Amazon plans to hire 250,000 people this holiday season to staff its fulfillment centers across the country.
At the same time as job growth, the online retailer and delivery juggernaut is usually beginning to ramp up for the holidays. The company stated earlier this week that it intends to hire additional people across the country for full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions.
Earlier this year, Amazon fired off thousands of workers in its retail, device, and human resources departments. According to the company, the majority of the 250,000 positions it is now searching for will be in fulfillment centers and transportation.

Amazon also stated that it intends to improve wages for roles in customer fulfillment and transportation. The company expects to invest $1.3 billion this year to bring the average hourly wage to $20.50.
Amazon boasts that it has increased wages by $10 billion in the last five years.

“A fulfillment or transportation employee who starts with us today will see a 13% increase in pay over the next three years—probably more,” John Felton, the company’s chief executive, stated. Senior vice president for global operations.
